Working in photoshop layers of texture were created onto which the logo was floated. The idea was to create a soft natural feel to the texture. At this stage just Black and Pink were planned as colours.
This is made up from two scans - a watercolour of the logo and a separate watercolour of a "line" or "bar" for the top of the mug.
This has three scans combined - a watercolour of the logo, a separate watercolour of a "line" and then a watercolour of the lettering title - plus digital airbrushing of the blue. his is the frst occasion blue is used in the design and picks up the blue used on the Abingdon's website.
Design 6 begins to put all the ideas together. The watercolour versions are ditched. Black and pink only are explored. The logo heraldic symbols are stretched off the logo into a banner that loops around the mug. It is given highlights and transparency to suggest silk.
The 3 versions 7 were all produced individually. At this stage we were still exploring different manufacturers each with different mug shapes. The design cant be stretched to fit as this would have caused the circles in the design to appear distorted.
