My name is James Nairne and I'm Head of Art at Cranleigh School, in Surrey.

I always wanted to be an artist and designer from an early age and have kept drawing pads and sketchbooks for as long as I can remember. My current favorite sketchpad is an A6 Seawhite black hardbound landscape pad but the Roberson "Bushy" which is slightly larger than A6 was a favourite for a long time. I enjoy finding new and different drawing swagger (pens and brushes!)

Landscape is a genre that I always seem to return to, but current interests are more urban and have developed from my sketchbook drawing. Ideas and images associated with travel have become a starting point for some kind of commentary on contemporary life.

I am a bit of a Photoshop wiz and mac geek and have been 'online' since 1994

As a committed Christian, I enjoy relating what I do to my faith.

I am married to a doctor and we have two daughters.

Drawing, painting, photography, art education. A lot of the work on my blog is from my sketchbooks but I am happy to receive commissions for more finished work and some work is for sale. Please ask.
